Pet bird gets owner’s attention by singing iPhone ringtone
As comedian Gary Gulman has pointed out, for most of us, the phone is a seldom used app on our phone. Most people chose to text or message, and if someone’s actually calling, you know it’s either an emergency or your grandma.
All of which is to say that, if your phone is ringing, it’s going to get your attention. Which is a lesson learned by this pet bird named Lucky. Lucky is a cockatiel who does not like being left alone. Whenever his owners try to leave the house, he’ll hop around and mimic their iPhone ringtone and, as you can hear in this video, he does a pretty accurate impression.
The video was captured by Ben Pluimer, who is friends with the smart bird’s owners. According to Plumier, Lucky is especially apt to sing the tune when someone is tying their shoes, which signifies that they are getting ready to leave.
Cockatiels, much like parrots, can learn to repeat words and phrases taught to them by their owners, but Lucky seems to be doing just fine with his ringtone song. It’s pretty clear he’s saying, “Hey, can I get a little attention over here?”
